“We will liven up the garden of Rothmayer's villa and introduce the audience to the story of fashion designer and educator Božena Rothmayerov,” this is how young theater artists from the Memory of Nations studio at KC Kaštan in Prague 6 beckoned to the premiere of the production On Your Own Way, which took place on June 2, 2023. During this year's school year, the participants of the theater studio, under the guidance of the experienced and popular lecturer Alena Skálova, dealt with a personality who lived most of her life in Prague's Břevnov. Together with her architect husband Otto Rothmayer, she looked after the interior and garden of Rothmayer's villa between the 1930s and 1970s. Bozena's modern designs of dresses, curtains and embroidered bedspreads carry the principles of simplicity, nobility and modest beauty. Božena was guided by the same principles as in her work throughout her life. Her courage and self-confidence are a great inspiration to us, and we would like to pass on fragments of her story. Two other women, Alice Masaryková and Františka Plamínková, also inspired the performance.
