The summer theatre workshops for young people aged 13 to 18, which this year will be linked to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Czech Radio, offer the last available places in August. This year too, the Memory of Nations Theatre – Post Bellum is organizing summer theater workshops, and this time they will be connected with the celebrations of the centenary of Czech Radio. Let's bring radio stories to life together. Its editors recorded and reflected on important milestones in our modern history. Anyone who joins will get an insight into various radio professions, find themselves in the time of important historical moments, be inspired by the stories of witnesses, record a radio sketch or a podcast and finally, together with the lecturers, work everything into a theatrical form. “Adults do nothing but guard the boundaries of custom,” is one of the authentic quotes from the personal diary of the Czech art historian, poet and prominent dissident Věra Jirousová. After the signing of Charter 77, this prominent figure of the Czech intelligentsia of the second half of the 20th century was subjected to persecution and systematic bullying by the state authorities of the time, operating exclusively in the intentions of the Czechoslovak, pro-Soviet political regime. What did Prague's Libeň look like before the Second World War? What do we even know about its original inhabitants? The memories of witnesses from the old Libeň, their personal stories and thinking about them through the eyes of contemporaries became the starting point for the production of the Treacherous Leeward production of the Memory of Nations studio in Divadlo pod Palmovkou. The premiere took place on 7 June 2023 in the Palmovka Synagogue, in a unique space with an irreplaceable genius loci, which ideally harmonised with the poetics and creativity of the production by the young theatre artists from Libeň. Production Spring 68 of the Memory od Nations' Theatre Studio in Dlouhá Theatre had its premiere on May 29, 2023. This production was created under the guidance of experienced lecturer Nika Nováková and the basic inspiration was the story of director Hynek Bočan. Although it might have seemed that the Prague Spring of 1968 would be a promise and a way to loosen the then-repressive regime, in the end only the skepticism of some citizens was confirmed.
