We would like to invite you to participate in the unique theater project We Are Memory, which is organized annually by the organization Post Bellum in cooperation with Theater Na de Dam from the Netherlands. This year, the project is being held in cooperation with the National Gallery Prague.
Another project partner is RecyUpcy. RecyUpcy saves waste materials from disposal and uses them for creative education for children and adults.
The goal of the project is to connect generations through a personal meeting of students with witnesses, specifically with Holocaust survivors. Based on the stories of witnesses, students will create a performance/installation that will reflect their destinies and at the same time respond to the questions of the present. We will thus connect the topics of the Holocaust and human rights with current events.
Who can join?
We are looking for 5 to 10 students of visual arts (field: fine arts, fine arts, liberal arts, intermedia, sculpture and others) and acting. Artist, curator, and documentarian Tamara Moyzes and theater director Tamara Pomoriški will guide you through the entire project.
When and where will the premiere be?
The premiere will take place on January 27, 2024, Holocaust Remembrance Day, in the Trade Fair Palace of the National Gallery Prague. The space of the former assembly hall before the transport to the concentration camps and the Holocaust themed artworks in the permanent exhibition will be a source of inspiration.
What is the schedule?
The project runs from November 2023 to January 2024. It includes joint meetings as well as individual preparation. We will adapt the dates to the students, but the premiere week of January 20-27, 2024 must be completed in its entirety.
