The Memory of Nations Theatre has prepared the sixth edition of its regular theatre series “We Are Memory.” The aim is to present original performances from a young generation of artists, thematically based on the real stories of eyewitnesses recorded by Post Bellum documentarians and to connect art students with already integrated professional artists.
This year's Prague production, entitled “Luck,” was directed by Tamara Pomoriški, artistic director of the Memory of Nations Theatre, in collaboration with the National Gallery Prague and the Department of Art Education at the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague. Choreographer Nela Štarková and actress Viktória Pejková participated in the connection of visual and performing arts.
Under the guidance of multimedia artist and teacher Jan Pfeiffer, the students artistically processed specific personal stories of witnesses who survived the Nazi persecution of the Jewish population in Prague. The National Gallery building itself, where the production will be staged on January 27 and 28, 2024, at 7 pm, is directly related to the memory of these events. The Nazis used the immediate surroundings of the Trade Fair Palace as a gathering place for their Prague victims just before their deportation to concentration camps.
Tickets can be purchased through GoOut.
During the performance, the audience will move through the space, and only a limited number of seats will be available.
The project was possible thanks to the support of our partners: the Holocaust Victims Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Prague City Hall, Theatre Na de Dam, National Gallery Prague, Charles University - Faculty of Education - Department of Art Education. This project is realized with the financial support of the European Union.
